Cassopolis, MI – A 19-year-old woman from Kalamazoo was injured in a single-vehicle crash on Wood Lake Road in Newberg Township on Saturday afternoon. The accident, which occurred around 12:09 p.m., resulted in a fire that left both the vehicle and a nearby mobile home engulfed in flames.
Cass County Sheriff Richard J. Behnke reports that Charlotte Barrow was traveling southbound at a high speed when she lost control of her vehicle after cresting a hill. The car went airborne before veering off the roadway, eventually colliding with an unoccupied mobile home used for storage. The impact sparked a fire that spread from the car to the structure.
Newberg Fire and EMS responded to the scene, transporting Barrow to Three Rivers Health Hospital for treatment. Authorities confirm that alcohol and drugs are not suspected factors in the crash.
The Cass County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the cause of the incident. No additional injuries were reported.
