Wheaton, IL – A Glendale Heights man was convicted today for the 2021 murder of Hanover Park resident Marek Krywko.

DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin announced that a jury found Richard Goodwin, 59, guilty of first-degree murder and aggravated battery. The verdict followed a four-day trial and 16 hours of deliberation. Goodwin has been held in DuPage County Jail since his arrest in August 2021.

According to authorities, Hanover Park police responded to a residence on Pebblebeach Drive on August 2, 2021, after reports of two gunshot victims. Officers discovered one victim with a gunshot wound to her thigh outside the home. Inside, they found Krywko, also shot in the thigh, with a wound that severed his femoral artery. Despite first aid efforts, Krywko was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at a local hospital.

Investigators revealed that Goodwin and two women visited Krywko’s home to purchase marijuana. During the exchange, Goodwin reportedly shot both victims before fleeing with the women. Police arrested him without incident weeks later.

“Today’s guilty verdict ensures accountability for this senseless murder,” Berlin said. Goodwin’s sentencing is set for March 4, 2025.
