Joliet, IL – Lane and ramp closures on Richards St. near I-80 are set to begin on October 14, affecting traffic for the next two years. The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) will conduct road reconstruction work between Colburn Avenue and 55th Avenue, reducing access to the area.
According to IDOT, closures on Richards Street, both north and south of I-80, will lead to lane reductions starting October 21. At that time, Richards St. will be reduced to one lane in each direction. The I-80 ramps at Richards St. will also be closed.
Detours will route drivers to use Chicago St. (US-52/IL-53) or Briggs St. for I-80 access. The closures are anticipated to last until fall 2025.
