Joliet, IL – A serious traffic accident on Friday morning in Joliet left a motorcyclist with life-threatening injuries. The crash occurred at 7:57 a.m. at the intersection of North Larkin Avenue and Taylor Street. A 38-year-old man from Joliet was driving a Nissan Sentra southbound on North Larkin Avenue. As he approached Taylor Street, he changed lanes into the center left turn lane, intending to turn onto Taylor Street.
At the same time, a 54-year-old man from Oswego was riding a Harley Davidson motorcycle in the center left turn lane. The motorcycle struck the driver’s side of the Nissan as it moved into the lane, causing a collision that ejected the motorcyclist from his bike.
The motorcyclist was rushed to Ascension St. Joseph Medical Center by the Joliet Fire Department with life-threatening injuries. The Nissan’s driver was uninjured.
The Joliet Police Department Traffic Unit is currently investigating the accident, and the roadway remains closed for reconstruction. Authorities urge anyone with video footage or information to contact the Joliet Police Department Traffic Unit at (815) 724-3010.
