Joliet Township Halloween Shooting: Fourth Suspect Arrested in 2021 Homicide Case

Joliet, IL – Authorities have arrested David A. Grijalva, 23, of Joliet, in connection with the 2021 Joliet Township Halloween mass shooting. Grijalva is now facing multiple alleged charges, including twelve counts of first-degree murder. The incident resulted in three fatalities and several injuries.

The Will County Sheriff’s Office, with the help of the U.S. Marshals Service, apprehended Grijalva at his job in Channahon on October 3. He was charged with first-degree murder, aggravated battery, and unlawful use of a weapon. He is the fourth suspect arrested in the case.

According to the Will County Sheriff’s Office, the 2021 shooting occurred at a Halloween party where nearly 200 guests were present. Gunmen fired into the crowd, killing Holly Mathews and Jonathan Ceballos. A third victim, Sergio Hernandez, later died from his injuries.

Grijalva remains in custody at the Will County Adult Detention Facility.
