JOLIET, Ill. – A man in Joliet is in critical condition after he was shot by police Monday after allegedly being found walking with a handgun.
Officers were reportedly responding to calls of shots fired at the time and found themselves confronted the armed individual and opened fire in the 600 block of Elmwood Avenue.
The suspect was struck and immediately received medical attention, while a handgun was recovered on the scene. The suspect is now in critical condition at a local hospital.
The Will-Grundy Major Crimes Task Force is now investigating the incident. No further details surrounding the incident have been released.
