Joliet, IL — A bicyclist was killed in a hit-and-run crash early Sunday on South Larkin Avenue. Officers responded to the 200 block at 2:47 a.m. and found an unresponsive 56-year-old man lying next to his bicycle in the southbound lanes. Police believe an unidentified vehicle struck him before fleeing the scene.
According to the Joliet Police Department, a passing motorist found the victim and called 911. The victim was transported to Ascension St. Joseph Medical Center by Joliet Fire Department personnel, where he was pronounced dead. The police have yet to locate the suspect vehicle.
The roadway was closed as investigators reconstructed the crash scene. Authorities are urging anyone with video footage or information to contact the Joliet Police Department’s Traffic Unit at (815) 724-3110.
