Binghamton, NY – A Flash Flood Watch remains in effect through midnight Sunday as rounds of slow-moving storms continue to track across Central New York, bringing up to 3 inches of rain and a risk of damaging winds from Ithaca to Utica.

According to the National Weather Service in Binghamton, the most intense storms are expected between 1 and 8 p.m., with multiple rounds possible. Areas under the Flood Watch include Syracuse, Seneca Falls, Auburn, and Rome. Isolated locations may see more than 3 inches of rainfall, especially where storms repeatedly train over the same areas.

The main hazards include flash flooding of streets, streams, and low-lying areas. Damaging wind gusts are also possible with the strongest storms, particularly during the afternoon. Roads along I-81 and Route 13 could see reduced visibility and ponding.

Hot and humid conditions persist across the region, with heat indices reaching the upper 80s to low 90s. Residents are urged to monitor alerts, avoid flooded roadways, and delay non-essential travel this afternoon and evening.

Storm activity is expected to taper off overnight, but additional alerts are possible depending on how storms develop this evening.
