Itasca, IL – A tense situation unfolded in Itasca as Sean Brutto, 34, allegedly attempted to enter multiple homes while armed with an assault rifle. DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin and Itasca Director of Police Robert O’Connor reported that Judge Kishori Tank denied pre-trial release for Brutto, who is facing serious felony charges, including Home Invasion and Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm.

According to Itasca Police, on January 19, 2024, officers responded to a report of an armed individual trying to enter homes in the 800 block of Willow Court. They found Brutto in the front yard, allegedly armed with an AR-15 rifle. Brutto reportedly fired shots in the neighborhood and into a residence, causing property damage but no physical injuries. A struggle ensued when he entered a home, leading to his arrest without further incident.

State’s Attorney Berlin expressed grave concerns over the alleged home invasion with an assault rifle, emphasizing the threat to public safety. Police Director O’Connor commended the officers for their effective response. Brutto is scheduled for arraignment on February 5, 2024.
