Albany, NY – Isolated thunderstorms are expected to develop across parts of New York this afternoon, potentially bringing damaging winds and large hail. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Albany issued an alert early Thursday, emphasizing the possibility of severe weather, particularly in the upper Hudson Valley and surrounding areas.

According to the NWS, the storm activity will begin this afternoon and continue into the early evening, with temperatures reaching a high of 85 degrees in Albany. While the thunderstorms may be isolated, those that do occur could be intense, with the risk of localized wind damage and hail.

Looking ahead, the weather will stabilize briefly on Friday, which is expected to be sunny with a high of 87 degrees. However, the clear skies won’t last long, as another round of storms is forecasted for Sunday. Rain chances will increase to 55% on Sunday and 65% on Monday, with temperatures cooling slightly to the upper 70s.

The rest of the week will see a mix of showers and cooler temperatures, with highs dropping to around 70 degrees by Tuesday. Residents are advised to stay informed of weather updates, especially for potential severe conditions this afternoon and the upcoming rainy spell.
