Champaign, IL – Central Illinois residents should prepare for isolated thunderstorms over the next few days as temperatures rise into the mid-80s. The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a forecast predicting sporadic storms this afternoon and evening.
According to the NWS, a slow-moving cold front will move southward across central Illinois by Wednesday, bringing scattered thunderstorms, some of which could be strong. Residents are advised to stay alert for changing weather conditions, particularly through Tuesday and Wednesday when the storm activity is expected to peak.
Today’s forecast shows temperatures ranging between 83-87°F with a 20% chance of isolated thunderstorms, continuing into the night with temperatures dropping to 65-68°F. Wednesday will see a slight increase in storm likelihood, with temperatures between 83-88°F and a 30% chance of thunderstorms, dropping to 63-69°F at night.
By Thursday, the weather is expected to clear up with sunny skies and temperatures between 81-87°F, and nighttime lows between 59-66°F. Friday and Saturday will maintain this trend of clear skies, with daytime temperatures ranging from 82-89°F and nighttime lows from 60-69°F.
The forecast for the following days, including Sunday and Monday, predicts continued warm and mostly clear conditions, with temperatures hovering in the mid-80s during the day and dropping to the mid-60s at night.
