Davenport, Iowa – A dry, breezy Sunday is in store for Eastern Iowa as cooler air and gusty northwest winds move into the region.

According to the National Weather Service in the Quad Cities, winds will increase up to 15 mph by midday Sunday, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Motorists driving east-west routes like I-280 or I-80 should secure loose items and expect occasional debris, especially near open fields.

Skies will clear overnight, with lows dipping near 54°F before rebounding to the mid-70s by Sunday afternoon. It’ll be the first in a stretch of bright, breezy days that continue through next week. Although the cooler weather brings relief, the dry air and wind could raise grassfire concerns in rural counties west of the metro.

By Monday, highs will hold in the low 70s under full sunshine, with calm conditions expected during morning commutes. Evening lows will consistently land in the low 50s across Scott County, keeping nights cool for late August.

With no rain in the immediate outlook, now’s a good time to complete outdoor projects and check in on sensitive plants ahead of a dry pattern.

Conditions remain stable through midweek, but elevated wind gusts could return by Thursday. More detailed advisories may be issued if that develops.
