Davenport, IA – A two-vehicle collision near Davenport claimed the life of a local man on Thursday afternoon. The crash occurred at the intersection of 210th Street and Jersey Ridge Road around 2:14 p.m.
According to the Scott County Accident Investigation Team, a 2019 Honda CRV driven by William Ashton, 63, of Davenport, attempted to turn left, crossing into oncoming traffic. The Honda collided with an eastbound 2018 Chevy Silverado. Emergency crews used mechanical means to extricate Ashton, who was transported to Genesis East before being flown to a Peoria hospital, where he died from his injuries.
The Silverado’s driver, Timothy Wiese, sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
The Scott County Accident Investigation Team is investigating the incident. The Eldridge Fire Department and Scott County MEDIC assisted at the scene.
