Washington, D.C. – The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) announced federal disaster assistance for Iowa, targeting recovery efforts following severe storms, flooding, and tornadoes that began on June 16. President Biden’s major disaster declaration includes Clay, Emmet, Lyon, Plymouth, and Sioux Counties.

According to HUD, a 90-day moratorium on foreclosures for FHA-insured mortgages and Section 184 Indian Home Loan guarantees is now in effect. Additionally, HUD’s Section 203(h) program offers 100 percent financing for reconstruction or replacement of damaged homes, and Section 203(k) loans allow for home purchase or refinancing alongside repairs. Homeowners can seek more information from the FHA Resource Center at 1-800-304-9320.
