La Crosse, WI – The National Weather Service in La Crosse has issued a Dense Fog Advisory and Wind Advisory for much of northeast Iowa, southeast Minnesota, and western Wisconsin, warning travelers to prepare for low visibility this morning followed by dangerous winds late tonight into Wednesday.

The Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 10 a.m. Tuesday, with visibility dropping to a quarter mile or less across communities such as La Crosse, Decorah, Rochester, Prairie du Chien, and Osage. Drivers are urged to use headlights, slow down, and allow extra time for their morning commute.

By midnight, a Wind Advisory will take over through noon Wednesday, bringing northwest winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph. These strong winds could down tree branches, knock out power, and make driving hazardous for trucks and high-profile vehicles, particularly on Highway 52, I-90, and US-61.

The NWS warns that the combination of fog, gusty winds, and falling temperatures may lead to rapidly changing road conditions — a concern for those traveling ahead of Thanksgiving.

Motorists are advised to stay alert, avoid distractions, and plan ahead for possible delays due to low visibility and blowing debris.
