Davenport, Iowa – Mild spring weather will dominate eastern Iowa and northwestern Illinois through at least Friday night, bringing daytime highs in the 70s and only a slight midweek storm risk.
According to the National Weather Service Quad Cities, most cities across the region will reach 73–76°F today and up to 80°F on Wednesday. A 10–30% chance of isolated showers or thunderstorms may develop Wednesday afternoon and evening, but no severe storms are expected.
By Thursday, cooler air will move in with highs in the upper 60s and lows dipping into the upper 30s to mid-40s overnight. Northeastern parts of Iowa, including areas like Dubuque and Decorah, could see patchy frost by early Friday. Residents are encouraged to protect sensitive plants and check overnight forecasts.
Travel and outdoor plans should remain mostly unaffected, although light rain Wednesday could briefly dampen evening commutes from Galesburg, Illinois to Cedar Rapids. With mostly clear skies on Thursday and Friday, conditions will stay ideal for spring yardwork, school events, and outdoor recreation.
The next NWS update is expected by Wednesday morning. No additional advisories are in effect at this time, but residents should monitor for any overnight frost warnings in cooler zones.
