Iowa–Illinois — A cold, quiet start is unfolding across the Quad Cities, but rising river levels and lingering frost are creating a double threat this morning, with slick roads and flooded areas impacting travel near the Mississippi River.

According to the National Weather Service, a Flood Warning remains in effect along the Mississippi River, including near Moline and Davenport, where water levels continue to impact low-lying roads. At the same time, temperatures are hovering in the mid-30s, with a Freeze Warning set to take effect late tonight into Monday morning as lows drop to around 31°F.

Across Davenport, Rock Island, and Bettendorf, drivers should remain alert for both hazards. Flooded roadways near riverbanks remain dangerous, and even shallow water can stall vehicles. Meanwhile, early morning frost may create slick patches on bridges along I-74 and I-80. Plan extra time if heading out.

Conditions improve briefly this afternoon with highs near 53°F and increasing clouds. Winds could gust up to 30 mph, especially in open areas. However, temperatures fall quickly again tonight, setting up widespread frost and a hard freeze by early Monday.

By Tuesday, a dramatic warm-up arrives, with highs jumping to 76°F, followed by 78°F Wednesday. Meteorologists are now tracking this sharp shift, which could help fuel instability later in the week. By Thursday night, showers and thunderstorms become likely, with rain chances climbing to 80%. While severe weather is not guaranteed, gusty winds and brief heavy rain are possible.

Take action now: avoid flooded roads, protect plants tonight, and prepare for rapid weather changes.

Flood warnings remain active, and additional updates are expected as river levels and temperatures fluctuate.
