Davenport, Iowa – Temperatures across eastern Iowa will push toward triple digits Friday, and dangerous storms could hit by late afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in the Quad Cities, a Heat Advisory is in effect from noon to 7 p.m. Thursday, with heat index values from 95 to 105. Another round of brutal heat is expected Friday with afternoon highs near 94°F and humidity driving it even higher. Scattered thunderstorms are expected late Friday, with the risk increasing into the weekend.

Friday residents in Davenport, Bettendorf, Muscatine, and along Highway 61 and I-80 should prepare for heat-related illnesses. Stay indoors during peak hours, hydrate frequently, and avoid strenuous outdoor activity.

Storm chances increase Friday night through Monday, with the threat of damaging winds and localized flooding, especially near the Cedar and Iowa Rivers. Recent heavy rains have left rivers swollen, and new rainfall may worsen flooding in vulnerable areas.
