Quad Cities, Iowa/Illinois – A fast-moving line of thunderstorms Sunday night triggered tornado warnings, flash flooding, and at least two reported tornadoes across eastern Iowa and western Illinois, with damage surveys underway Monday morning.

According to the National Weather Service in the Quad Cities, two storm survey teams were dispatched early Monday—one in Henry and Mercer counties in Illinois, and another headed toward the Des Moines County area in Iowa. The storms prompted multiple Severe Thunderstorm and Tornado Warnings between 7:30 and 10 p.m. Sunday.

Areas near Galesburg, Burlington, and Princeton were under tornado watches before the storms moved through. Parts of La Harpe and Dallas City are being actively surveyed for possible tornado tracks. Meanwhile, Cedar Rapids recorded over 2.34 inches of rain on Sunday alone, marking April 20 as the wettest calendar day in the city since June 25, 2022.

Isolated flash flooding was reported across the Cedar Rapids metro, where rain fell at a rate of up to 3 inches per hour. Residents are urged to report storm-related damage and stay clear of any downed power lines or debris.

More damage assessments are expected throughout Monday. Additional updates will be issued as survey results come in.
