Portland, Oregon – Gardeners and growers across western Oregon should prepare for a cold snap tonight as temperatures dip into the mid-30s, bringing widespread frost risk through 9 a.m. Tuesday.

According to the National Weather Service in Portland, a Frost Advisory remains in effect from midnight to 9 a.m. Tuesday for a broad stretch of the state, including the Willamette Valley, Tualatin Valley, Cascade foothills, and coastal mountain ranges. Low temperatures between 33 and 36 degrees are expected to produce frost capable of damaging or killing sensitive vegetation.

Cities under advisory include Eugene, Salem, Hillsboro, Albany, and Cottage Grove, along with higher-elevation areas like the West Columbia River Gorge above 500 feet and the Upper Hood River Valley. Parts of Cowlitz County and North Clark County in southern Washington are also impacted.

Residents are urged to bring potted plants indoors or cover garden beds with sheets or light blankets to protect from frost damage. Even brief exposure to these temperatures could affect spring planting.

This is the fourth frost advisory of the season for the Portland NWS office. Though skies will clear after sunrise, frost concerns remain possible in some low-lying valleys through midweek.

Stay tuned—updated advisories may be issued if colder air persists.
