Quad Cities, IA/IL – Residents of the Quad Cities area are preparing for a significant heatwave beginning this weekend and peaking early next week. Temperatures will begin to rise today, with highs reaching near 90 degrees. Sunday brings similar conditions with a chance of showers in the morning, followed by gradual clearing.
However, Monday and Tuesday will see the most extreme heat, with temperatures expected to soar between 92 to 97 degrees. The heat index could range from 100 to 110 degrees on Monday, making it one of the hottest days of the year. Tuesday will remain hot, with highs between 90 and 96 degrees and heat indices up to 105 degrees.
The National Weather Service has warned of potential heat-related illnesses and urged residents to take precautions, especially during the peak heat hours in the afternoon. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible tonight, which could bring some relief, but the primary concern remains the extreme heat. The hot and humid conditions will persist through midweek, with temperatures gradually decreasing by Thursday.
