DAVENPORT, Iowa – Drivers across eastern Iowa and western Illinois woke to thick patches of fog Friday morning, with visibility dropping to a quarter mile in some areas. The National Weather Service in the Quad Cities said conditions will improve after 9 a.m., but early commuters should be prepared for sudden changes in visibility.
According to the NWS, the fog may be dense and uneven, with some pockets clearing quickly while others remain low-lying. Cities most affected include Davenport, Cedar Rapids, Dubuque, and Rock Island, where motorists are urged to use low-beam headlights and slow speeds. While no dense fog advisory has been issued, forecasters note one could still be needed if conditions worsen.

Saturday will mark the start of a stretch of dry, sunny days, with highs in the upper 70s to low 80s across the Quad Cities, Dubuque, and Burlington. Winds may pick up slightly by Saturday afternoon, with gusts near 20 mph.
The weather pattern will stay quiet into next week, offering several days of clear skies and mild temperatures.
