West Union, IA – A Maynard man struck a deer while driving near Oelwein this week, causing significant damage to his vehicle but leaving him uninjured.

According to the Fayette County Sheriffโ€™s Office, the crash happened Sunday at 11:46 a.m. on T Avenue near 40th Street, about two miles west of Oelwein. Deputies said Adam Dwight Novak, 41, was driving northbound in a black 2017 Chevrolet Traverse when the deer entered the roadway. Novakโ€™s SUV struck the animal, resulting in about $5,000 in damages.

Authorities confirmed that no injuries were reported in the collision. The Fairbank Ambulance and Fairbank Fire Department assisted at the scene.
