Iowa Braces for Severe Thunderstorms Through Midweek

Quad Cities, IA/IL – Residents of Iowa and Illinois should prepare for a mix of intense heat, humidity, and severe thunderstorms as the forecast through midweek predicts significant weather changes.

According to the National Weather Service Quad Cities, today and Monday will be very warm and humid, with temperatures ranging from 87 to 92 degrees Fahrenheit. The heat index is expected to reach between 90 and 98 degrees. A slight chance of thunderstorms is predicted for tonight, with lows around 70 to 73 degrees.

On Monday, the high temperatures will persist, ranging from 87 to 93 degrees with a heat index of 90 to 99 degrees. There is a 30% chance of storms north of I-80 during the day. By Monday night, the chance of thunderstorms increases to 50%, with temperatures dropping to between 62 and 72 degrees.

Cooler weather is anticipated by midweek. Tuesday’s highs will range from 72 to 80 degrees with partly cloudy skies. Tuesday night will see a further drop in temperatures, ranging from 54 to 60 degrees. Wednesday is expected to be mostly sunny, with highs between 76 and 80 degrees.
