Quad Cities, IA/IL – A strong storm system is expected to impact the Quad Cities region beginning late Thursday night, bringing the risk of severe weather through early Friday.
According to the National Weather Service Quad Cities, periodic showers and storms will develop late Wednesday into Thursday, with the most significant threat of severe storms arriving Thursday evening and continuing into Friday. The greatest concerns include damaging winds and large hail, with the storm system carrying a Level 1 to 2 out of 5 risk on the severe weather scale.
Storm coverage remains uncertain, particularly regarding the potential for severe activity. Winds may gust up to 35 mph Thursday evening, especially in exposed areas. Southeastern Iowa and northwestern Illinois communities, including Davenport, Moline, and Rock Island, are advised to stay weather-aware as conditions evolve.
