Quad Cities, IA/IL – A wet weather pattern is setting in across the Iowa-Illinois border with periods of rain and a chance for thunderstorms continuing through Thursday, according to the National Weather Service Quad Cities office.

According to the NWS, light rain began early Wednesday morning, with scattered showers and possible thunder expected throughout the day. Temperatures will vary widely, with highs ranging from the mid-40s in northeastern areas to the mid-60s in the southwest region of the forecast area.

Thursday brings more unsettled weather, with isolated thunderstorms expected to develop across the region. High temperatures will again range from the upper 40s to mid-60s, depending on location. Although storms may occur, rainfall totals are expected to remain light overall, with no major flooding concerns at this time.

Friday offers a brief reprieve, with morning clouds giving way to clearer skies by afternoon and milder conditions, with highs in the low to mid-50s.

Motorists should exercise caution during commutes as wet roads may become slick. Residents are advised to secure outdoor items and stay alert for any updated thunderstorm advisories. While severe weather is not anticipated, thunder and brief downpours could still impact travel and outdoor plans.
