Valparaiso, IN – Indiana’s Office of the State Chemist (OISC) is launching a Clean Sweep Pesticide Disposal Program to assist in the safe disposal of unwanted pesticides. The initiative offers free disposal services for up to 250 pounds of pesticides per participant, ensuring a responsible and environmentally friendly way to manage these hazardous materials.

According to the Indiana Department of Environmental Management, the program will commence on August 13 in Porter County, with additional events scheduled across multiple counties. Participants include public and private schools, golf courses, nurseries, farmers, agricultural dealers, and local government units.

The disposal events will be held from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM at various locations. Following Porter County, the program will move to Steuben County on August 14, Tipton County on August 15, Daviess County on August 20, Decatur County on August 21, and Hendricks County on August 22. Each site will accept a range of pesticides, including herbicides, insecticides, rodenticides, fungicides, and miticides.

This program offers a critical opportunity for Indiana residents and organizations to legally and safely dispose of unused or unwanted pesticides at minimal cost. For further details and to register, participants are encouraged to visit the OISC website.
