Green Bay, WI – Residents of northeast Wisconsin should prepare for severe thunderstorms this evening, as the National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a weather alert for the region. Damaging winds and hail are the primary concerns, with storms expected to develop late this afternoon and continue into the night.

According to the NWS, a slight westward shift in the Marginal Risk area indicates that the potential for severe weather has increased. An upper-level disturbance and a cold front will create conditions conducive to strong or severe thunderstorms. The best timing for these storms is from 5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., although activity may persist into early Thursday morning.

The areas most at risk include central and north-central Wisconsin. The NWS advises residents to remain vigilant and have multiple ways to receive weather alerts. High confidence exists in thunderstorm development, but the severity of the storms may vary.
