FORT WAYNE, IN – The first weekend of spring kicks off with mild and sunny conditions Friday, but rain and gusty winds are expected by Sunday.

According to the National Weather Service, Friday will be mostly sunny with a high of 52°F and light southwest winds up to 15 mph. However, conditions will shift by Sunday, bringing a mix of rain and snow along with wind gusts reaching 45 mph, particularly near Lake Michigan.

Saturday remains dry with partly cloudy skies and a high near 44°F, offering a pleasant start to the weekend. However, Sunday’s forecast calls for rain, potentially mixed with snow before the afternoon. Temperatures will reach 50°F before dipping into the mid-30s at night. The chance of precipitation Sunday is 90%, making wet roads likely across major routes such as I-69 and U.S. 30.

Early next week, the pattern remains unsettled. Monday brings a 30% chance of morning showers before partly sunny skies return with highs near 46°F. By Tuesday and Wednesday, rain and snow showers could return, with highs in the upper 40s.

Travelers should prepare for slick roads Sunday and monitor local forecasts for updates. Anyone planning outdoor activities should take advantage of Friday and Saturday’s milder weather before rain arrives.
