Indianapolis, IN – Travelers in Indiana should prepare for a soggy Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, with rain and patchy fog expected to impact roadways, including I-70. According to the National Weather Service (NWS), conditions tonight include a 40% chance of rain after midnight, paired with patchy fog and lows around 39°F. Rain is forecast to intensify on Christmas Day, with a 70% likelihood after 7 a.m. and steady rainfall expected through the afternoon. Highs will reach 44°F, and light southeast winds may add to the damp chill. Those hosting outdoor holiday events should plan to move festivities indoors as wet conditions persist.

Looking ahead, the wet weather will continue Wednesday night into Thursday morning, with a chance of drizzle and lows near 40°F. On Thursday, skies will remain mostly cloudy, but temperatures will begin warming, reaching a high of 52°F.

By Friday, Indianapolis residents can expect unseasonably warm conditions, with highs near 54°F and gusts of up to 18 mph. Rain will again be likely, especially by Friday night, when temperatures hover around 50°F. The warming trend continues into Saturday, with highs approaching 59°F, though thunderstorms are possible as another front moves through.

Residents should stay updated on changing conditions, particularly for travel. The NWS recommends checking forecasts frequently and planning accordingly, especially for those driving on highways like I-70, I-65, and I-69.
