Indianapolis, IN – Damp and rainy conditions will impact Central Indiana through the weekend, bringing challenges for post-Christmas travelers. Intermittent rain is expected today through Sunday, with Saturday night featuring the heaviest showers.
According to the National Weather Service, Friday’s rain will taper by late afternoon, but more scattered showers will return Saturday morning. Travelers should prepare for slick roads and reduced visibility, especially along I-65 and I-70. Winds may gust up to 26 mph today, creating additional hazards.
Saturday will bring a mix of dry intervals and scattered rain in the morning, with steadier showers likely by evening. Highs will reach a mild 58°F, while lows drop to 48°F overnight. Sunday morning is expected to see the heaviest rainfall, with wind gusts up to 18 mph before conditions gradually clear by the afternoon.
Looking ahead, Monday offers a reprieve with partly sunny skies and a high near 51°F. However, another rain system is forecast to return by Tuesday, bringing a 90% chance of precipitation.
Drivers are advised to stay cautious during wet periods, plan extra travel time, and monitor updates from local weather services. With mild temperatures persisting into the New Year, Indiana residents can expect mostly rain rather than snow as 2024 begins.
