Indianapolis, IN – Starting tonight, commuters in Marion County will face lane restrictions on I-465 southbound as road crews begin essential pavement patching work. The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) has scheduled these restrictions on the east side of Marion County to ensure the safety of both workers and drivers.
Beginning Wednesday at 9 p.m., the two right lanes of I-465 southbound between Fall Creek Road and U.S. 36 will be closed. This segment of the work is expected to conclude by Thursday at 6 a.m., weather permitting. Further restrictions will follow on Thursday night, closing the two left lanes in the same section, with completion targeted for Friday morning.
Friday night will see the most significant impact, as crews close the three left lanes of I-465 southbound, again between Fall Creek Road and U.S. 36. Additionally, the eastbound and westbound 56th Street on-ramps to I-465 southbound will be closed. Traffic will be diverted to one lane near Shadeland Avenue, causing potential delays. This phase of the work is expected to wrap up by Monday morning at 6 a.m.
INDOT advises drivers to remain cautious and consider alternate routes during these closures. Weather conditions could affect the project timeline, so commuters should stay informed for any updates.
