Indianapolis, IN – A family of five and their dog were displaced Sunday night after a severe fire erupted in their garage, spreading to the attic and heavily damaging their Indianapolis home. The fire occurred at 6336 Selago Dr., affecting the family’s home and four vehicles.
Firefighters arrived to find heavy flames engulfing the structure. According to the Indianapolis Fire Department, the family heard a loud boom before noticing smoke. The home’s smoke alarms promptly activated, alerting them to evacuate safely. Several 911 calls reported the blaze, which drew a swift response from local firefighters.
The firefighters engaged in an aggressive attack, bringing the fire under control within 25 minutes. The Indianapolis Fire Department reported no injuries from the incident. The blaze caused extensive damage to both the interior and exterior of the house. All family members and their pet escaped unharmed, though the home is now uninhabitable.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
