Fort Wayne, IN – A winter storm will bring snow, ice, and hazardous travel conditions to northern Indiana through Friday, impacting Valentine’s Day plans.
According to the National Weather Service, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 7 a.m. Thursday, with up to 3 inches of snow and sleet expected. Ice accumulation between one-tenth and one-quarter of an inch could create treacherous road conditions, especially along U.S. Route 24. Winds may gust up to 30 mph, reducing visibility.
Friday will see partly sunny skies with a high of 28°F, but another round of winter weather is forecast for Friday night through Saturday. Snow and freezing rain are likely, with an additional accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible. Rain will mix with snow Saturday before transitioning to all rain by the afternoon, making roads slick.
Drivers should use caution on highways and sidewalks, as black ice is a concern. Expect delays and potential power outages from ice-laden trees and power lines.
