Fort Wayne, IN – Freezing temperatures will persist across northern Indiana on Thursday, but a significant warm-up is expected by the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service, Thursday’s high will reach 24°F with a slight chance of snow in the afternoon. Overnight lows will dip to 14°F, with wind gusts up to 20 mph. By Friday, temperatures will climb slightly, reaching 27°F under mostly sunny skies.

The warming trend will become more noticeable over the weekend, with highs nearing 29°F on Saturday and 37°F on Sunday. By Monday, rain chances increase as temperatures push into the 40s. Wind chills will remain frigid Thursday morning, possibly dropping to -10°F south of US 30. Residents should dress in layers and watch for slick roads, especially during the Thursday morning commute.

While no hazardous weather is expected, travel conditions could become challenging due to light snowfall and freezing temperatures. The weekend thaw will provide some relief, but rain could create new hazards early next week. Stay updated with the latest forecasts to plan accordingly.
