Indianapolis, Indiana – A wave of thunderstorms is expected to sweep across central Indiana on Sunday, bringing a 90% chance of rain, lightning, and locally heavy downpours that could slow travel and raise flood concerns from Bloomington to Muncie.

According to the National Weather Service in Indianapolis, showers will begin Sunday morning and intensify throughout the day. While severe storms are not anticipated, any thunderstorm may produce lightning, gusty winds, and moderate flooding—especially in low-lying areas near the I-70 and U.S. 40 corridors. Motorists should use caution during periods of reduced visibility and ponding on roads.

Showers are likely to continue into Sunday night, with rainfall tapering off Monday morning. Gusty north winds near 22 mph will accompany the storms Sunday, followed by calmer but still wet conditions into Monday night.
