Indianapolis, Indiana – Sunny skies in Indianapolis won’t last past Sunday. A series of rainstorms and thunderstorms are expected to soak Central Indiana starting late Monday, with the most intense impacts likely Monday night through Wednesday afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service, a 30% chance of showers begins Monday afternoon. Conditions worsen quickly overnight, with a 90% chance of rain and storms moving in after 2 a.m. Tuesday. Rain will continue through Wednesday, with possible rainfall totals exceeding a half inch in some areas. East Washington Street, Keystone Avenue, and other low-lying roadways in Marion County may experience brief flooding or poor drainage. Travel delays are likely during Tuesday morning and Wednesday afternoon commutes.

Temperatures drop noticeably with the storms. After a warm Sunday near 75°F, highs fall into the mid-60s Tuesday and Wednesday. Gusty east-to-north winds—reaching 23 mph—could further complicate driving and outdoor plans. Residents should avoid unnecessary travel during peak rainfall and ensure gutters and storm drains are clear before Monday night.

By Thursday, drier weather returns with scattered showers tapering off. Temperatures rebound slightly heading into Friday, with mostly sunny skies and a high near 69°F.
