Indianapolis, IN – Central Indiana residents should prepare for light snowfall and frigid temperatures tonight, with wind chills dipping below zero, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Indianapolis.

Snow accumulations will range from a light dusting to just over an inch in some areas. Specific forecasts indicate 0.5 to 1.5 inches in Muncie and up to an inch in Indianapolis, Kokomo, and Lafayette. Bloomington may see slightly lower totals, around 0.1 to 0.5 inches.

Winds are expected to remain between 8-12 mph overnight, pushing wind chills into the single digits and below zero across much of central Indiana. The NWS warns of snow-covered roads, isolated slick spots, and reduced visibility, particularly in open areas.

Drivers are urged to take extra precautions, allow additional travel time, and prepare for icy conditions. The coldest temperatures and wind chills will persist into early Thursday morning before slightly improving later in the day.

Residents should dress in layers, cover exposed skin, and check on vulnerable individuals to prevent cold-related illnesses. Stay updated with local weather alerts for further developments.
