Quad Cities, IL – A Cold Weather Advisory is in effect across Illinois tonight through Thursday morning, with dangerously low temperatures and severe wind chills.

According to the National Weather Service Quad Cities, sub-zero temperatures combined with winds between 5-15 mph will create wind chills ranging from -15°F to -25°F. Exposure to these conditions could lead to frostbite on exposed skin within 30 minutes.

Residents are urged to take precautions by dressing in layers, limiting outdoor exposure, and ensuring pets have adequate shelter and water. The cold conditions pose an increased risk of hypothermia and frostbite, particularly for those spending prolonged periods outdoors.

The advisory remains in effect until Thursday morning, with temperatures expected to remain dangerously low. Officials recommend avoiding unnecessary travel and preparing for extreme cold conditions.
