Indianapolis, IN – A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for much of central and north-central Indiana from 1 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday, as a mix of ice and snow is expected to create hazardous road conditions.

According to the National Weather Service in Indianapolis, ice accumulations of up to one-tenth of an inch are possible, with isolated higher amounts in some areas. Northern parts of the advisory region may also see up to an inch of snow.

The advisory covers multiple counties, including Marion, Tippecanoe, Hamilton, Madison, Delaware, and Boone, as well as cities like Indianapolis, Lafayette, Muncie, and Anderson.

Travel impacts are expected, especially on bridges, overpasses, and untreated roads, which could become slick and dangerous. Motorists should reduce speeds, allow extra travel time, and exercise caution.

Residents are urged to use extra care when walking on sidewalks, stairs, and driveways, as ice may lead to an increased risk of falls.

For updated road conditions, call 511 or check with local transportation agencies.
