Indiana Urgent Alert: Autistic Boy Missing After Entering Cornfield Saturday in Tippecanoe County

Tippecanoe County, IN โ€“ Authorities are searching for a 10-year-old boy last seen entering a cornfield Saturday night in northern Tippecanoe County.

According to the Tippecanoe County Sheriffโ€™s Office, Gabriel Hurt was reported missing from the 7000 block north of County Road 50 West at approximately 9 p.m. Saturday. Gabriel is hearing impaired and autistic, and officials warned that he may run away if approached.

Multiple agencies have joined the search effort, including the Tippecanoe County Sheriffโ€™s Office, Lafayette Police Department, West Lafayette Police Department, Lafayette Fire Department, Indiana State Police, West Lafayette Fire Department, Purdue University Fire Department, Tippecanoe Emergency Management Agency, and every volunteer fire department in the county. Several police agencies outside Tippecanoe County are also assisting.

Authorities urge anyone who sees Gabriel or has information about his whereabouts to call the Tippecanoe County Sheriffโ€™s Office at 765-423-9321.

Residents in the area are encouraged to check their properties, including sheds, garages, and wooded areas, and to report any sightings immediately. Officials emphasized the importance of not attempting to physically approach Gabriel, but rather contacting law enforcement to ensure his safety.

As of Sunday morning, search operations are ongoing, with teams canvassing fields and rural roads in the area where Gabriel was last spotted.
