Porter County, IN – Roadwork on I-94 near U.S. 20/Exit 22 will bring overnight lane closures and traffic shifts starting March 20, lasting through late June. The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) announced two major projects impacting both eastbound and westbound traffic.
According to INDOT, the first project will close the left and right shoulders on eastbound I-94, as well as the left shoulder of westbound I-94 at U.S. 20, beginning on or after Thursday, March 20. Crews will remove and replace the overhead box truss structure over the eastbound lanes in that area.
The second project will shift three westbound lanes of I-94 leftward at the Norfolk Southern Railroad bridge starting on or after Monday, March 24. This shift will maintain three lanes of traffic while crews perform bridge painting work. Equipment staging will occur on the right side of the bridge.
Motorists should expect delays and exercise caution while traveling through the work zones. INDOT advises drivers to plan alternative routes when possible and stay updated on traffic conditions through official state transportation channels.
