Lafayette, IN – A semi-truck incident has caused a temporary closure of the I-65 northbound entrance ramp at State Road 38. Authorities are urging drivers to avoid the area and seek alternate routes.
According to the Indiana State Police, the semi lost its load while attempting to merge onto I-65. Troopers and recovery crews are working to remove the truck and its cargo. The closure is necessary to ensure the safety of the workers and the public.
The Indiana Department of Transportation confirmed the closure early Monday, advising motorists to remain patient. Drivers should plan ahead and use alternative routes to prevent delays. Officials have not provided an estimated time for the ramp to reopen.
Photos from the scene show a large load, wrapped in protective coverings, spilled near the ramp. Emergency vehicles and tow trucks were positioned to assist with clearing the area. The semi-truck appeared to be disabled, further complicating the recovery process.
No injuries have been reported at this time. Authorities have not disclosed the cause of the load loss or whether the driver will face any penalties. Updates on the ramp’s status will be provided as recovery efforts continue.
For now, drivers are reminded to exercise caution in the area and to obey all traffic signs. Stay tuned for updates from Indiana State Police and INDOT.
