Logansport, IN – A collision at a busy Cass County intersection has left one man dead and prompted a two-hour road closure Saturday afternoon, as officials investigate the circumstances surrounding a deadly vehicle and motorcycle crash.

According to a statement from the Cass County Sheriff’s Office, emergency crews were dispatched to US 24 at County Road 600 East around 12:04 p.m. after reports of a two-vehicle collision. Authorities said a northbound 2011 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Kobi Martindale, 21, of Kewanna, Indiana, allegedly failed to yield as he crossed the eastbound and then westbound lanes of US 24, striking a westbound 2013 Harley-Davidson motorcycle.

The motorcycle was operated by James Dolmanet, 28, of Wabash, Indiana, who sustained life-threatening injuries. Despite a medical helicopter being summoned, Dolmanet was pronounced dead at the scene before he could be transported to a trauma center, according to Cass County officials. His family has been notified.

Responding agencies included the New Waverly Fire Department, Walton Fire Department, Logansport Police Department, Cass County Coroner’s Office, and Cass County Emergency Medical Services, among others. The sheriff’s office indicated that Kobi Martindale and his passenger refused medical treatment at the scene.

Authorities do not believe impaired driving was a factor in the crash. The intersection remained closed for approximately two hours for investigation and debris removal. The Cass County Sheriff’s Office crash reconstructionist continues to investigate. Anyone with information is urged to contact the sheriff’s office at 574-753-7800.
