Steuben County, IN – Drivers on the Indiana Toll Road are facing major delays this morning as eastbound lanes are being diverted following an overnight crash.
According to Indiana State Police, troopers responded at approximately 1:58 a.m. Tuesday after receiving calls about a semi that ran off the road in a construction zone near mile marker 143.6 in Steuben County. Responding officers found a red 2020 Volvo towing a trailer that had entered a closed lane under construction and crashed. Police confirmed the driver was not injured in the incident.
Eastbound traffic was initially able to pass the crash site but will be diverted later this morning as crews work to remove the semi and repair damage. State police said the diversion will begin at approximately 10:00 a.m. at Exit 121 for Howe/LaGrange. The detour route directs drivers south on SR9, east on SR120, and north on I-69 before rejoining eastbound Indiana Toll Road.
Authorities said the closure and cleanup are expected to take several hours as crews remove the semi and repair the construction barrier. Drivers traveling eastbound should allow for extra time and consider alternate routes.
