Indiana: Suspicious Package at La Porte Family Express Found to Be Lemax House

La Porte, IN – A store was evacuated Thursday after a suspicious package was found at the Family Express on Johnson Road, prompting a bomb scare.

According to the La Porte County Sheriff’s Office, deputies discovered an unlabeled styrofoam package near the storefront, underneath a U.S. Postal Service mailbox. They secured the area, evacuated the store, and cleared the parking lot to ensure public safety.

Deputy Jon Sikorski and the Porter County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad were immediately contacted and dispatched to the scene. The bomb squad safely x-rayed the package and determined it to be non-threatening. Upon further inspection, they found the package contained a porcelain dollhouse manufactured by Lemax.

The store has since resumed normal operations. Authorities are urging anyone who may have misplaced a Lemax dollhouse to contact the sheriff’s office at 219-326-7700.
