Indiana State Police Investigate Interstate 65 Shooting in Tippecanoe County

Tippecanoe County, IN – Indiana State Police are investigating a shooting involving two vehicles on Interstate 65 near State Road 25. The incident occurred Monday evening, just before 6 p.m., near the 178-mile marker.

Authorities say a dark-colored Kia fired at least one shot toward a Nissan Altima while both vehicles were traveling southbound. Preliminary findings suggest an occupant of the Nissan may have returned fire.

According to Indiana State Police, the driver of the Nissan continued to Love’s Travel Stop, where a bullet hole was found in the vehicle. Investigators believe the Kia exited the interstate onto State Road 43 without stopping.

No injuries have been reported, but the investigation remains active. Police urge anyone with dashcam footage or information to contact the Indiana State Police Lafayette Post at 765-567-2125.
