La Porte County, IN – A Milwaukee man was arrested Friday after a high-speed chase spanning US 20 and I-94. Deputies discovered drugs, a firearm, and multiple active warrants during his apprehension.

At 11:45 a.m., Deputy Julian Sanchez observed an SUV speeding eastbound on US 20 near Springville Road. The driver, identified as Maurice Williams, 29, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, was also not wearing a seatbelt. When Sanchez attempted a traffic stop, Williams fled, initiating a pursuit.

Williams performed a dangerous U-turn and sped westbound toward I-94. Authorities pursued until terminating the chase for public safety. Minutes later, Lake County Sheriff’s deputies spotted the same vehicle on I-94. The SUV crashed into a semi-trailer near the Indiana-Michigan state line.

Williams fled on foot but was quickly apprehended with K-9 assistance. He faces charges including dealing cocaine and methamphetamine, possessing a firearm, and resisting law enforcement. Authorities also confirmed multiple outstanding arrest warrants from Wisconsin.

Williams remains in La Porte County Jail. Police emphasize all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
