Wilmington, OH – A round of accumulating snow is expected to move into portions of east-central Indiana and central and west-central Ohio Monday evening, creating slippery roads and potentially hazardous travel for the Tuesday morning commute.

According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect from 7 p.m. Monday to 10 a.m. Tuesday for counties including Wayne, Fayette, and Union in Indiana, and Hardin, Mercer, Auglaize, Darke, Shelby, Logan, Delaware, Miami, Champaign, Clark, Preble, and Montgomery in Ohio. Communities such as Richmond, Connersville, Kenton, Celina, Greenville, Sidney, Bellefontaine, Marysville, Springfield, Dayton, and Troy are included in the advisory area.

Forecasters expect 3 to 5 inches of snow, with the steadiest snowfall arriving overnight and continuing into early Tuesday morning. According to the NWS, the heaviest snow will fall before sunrise, leading to quickly accumulating coverage on roads and reduced visibility.

Travel will likely be slippery and slow, especially on untreated roadways, bridges, and overpasses. The Tuesday morning commute is expected to see the greatest impacts across the Miami Valley and surrounding regions.

Drivers are urged to slow down, allow extra time, and use caution when traveling. Officials also encourage residents to monitor updated forecasts and check winter road conditions through state transportation websites.

Snow is expected to taper off late Tuesday morning, with gradual improvements in road conditions by midday.
