Indiana – Wet pavement and steady rain are already slowing drivers across Fort Wayne this morning as showers continue to push through northern Indiana with occasional thunder.

According to the National Weather Service, rain coverage remains widespread through late morning, with storms capable of producing gusts up to 25 mph and brief heavy downpours. Some isolated thunder could intensify rainfall rates, especially along I-69 and US-30, where visibility may drop quickly and ponding develops on roadways.

River levels are also a concern. Flood warnings remain in effect along the St. Joseph, Tippecanoe, and Tiffin rivers, with minor to moderate flooding ongoing or expected. Areas near South Bend, Elkhart, and into northwest Ohio should monitor rising water levels closely. Never drive through flooded roads.

Conditions improve later today, but the bigger story is the sharp cooldown. By Sunday, highs only reach the low 50s with lighter winds and partial clearing. That sets the stage for a much colder night.

Temperatures fall to around 30°F Sunday night into early Monday, increasing the risk for frost and a light freeze. Any leftover moisture could refreeze, creating slick spots for the Monday morning commute. Protect sensitive plants and plan for extra travel time.

A rebound begins quickly. Sunshine returns Monday afternoon, followed by a warmer stretch with highs in the low 70s by Tuesday and near 80°F by Thursday.
